When Jesus died on the cross, He declared, "It is finished," yet still many Christians suffer from the effects of their past. Seeking God for guidance in how to help people gain victory in their Christian walk, the Lord gave us a revelation from Luke 8:26-37. Jesus ministered to the man with a "legion of demons." Jesus simply spoke to the demons, they left, and the man was "sitting at the feet of Jesus, dressed and in his right mind." Later in the book of Acts, we see the apostles ministering in the same way. With this method of ministry in mind, Jesus makes this statement, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in Me will do what I have been doing" (John 14:12). We are convinced that the process of releasing people from their past, and seeing them released into what God has created them for, should be based on the example that Jesus set, so that the "It is finished" work of the cross would be manifested in people's lives.
The injustices of life are not the reason our problems overcome us. Jesus did not say that people are destroyed because of what someone did to them. He did not say that people are defeated because of a poor upbringing, abuse, poverty or rejection. Instead, God said, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 5:6; Isaiah 5:13). What leads us to defeat is our lack of knowledge of the Word of God and our inability to use it when confronted by injustice. Injustice is part of life. Jesus did not promise us that this life would be without troubles. Instead, He said, "In this life you will have tribulation."
Jesus taught about two men who built houses: one on rock, the other on sand. Both heard the Word -- they both had knowledge. But only one acted on what he heard and it was his house that withstood the flood. God's Word says, "Oh that My people would walk in My ways, I would quickly subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their adversaries" (Psalm 81:13-14). Hebrews also gives a further solemn warning against neglect of the truth (Hebrews 2:1-3a).
Jacob's Well provides practical, Biblical teaching through seminars designed to equip people with tools to help them walk in victory in their day-to-day Christian lives. Though each seminar has a specific focus, overall our seminars provide an awareness of how to deal with sin, how to fight the attacks of the enemy, how to handle the testing of the Lord, how to receive emotional healing from past wounds, and how to put God's Word into practice.
All seminars conclude with a ministry session of prayer
